WHO WE ARE
A council of approximately 100 local citizens of various ethnic and social classes formed the Logan County Chapter of Concerned Citizens. This organization consists of a diverse group of individuals including lawyers, doctors, city officials, common citizens and even some local youths. This group of citizens formed because of violence in our city and someone had to speak out to keep it from escalating further. The Concerned Citizens had its first meeting at Bank Street AME Church. Later a historic building was acquired known as the K.P. Hall. After receiving a grant from Kentucky Governor Paul Patton for $228,000, this building was renovated. Our first tutoring program started in 1996 with only five students and has grown to about 50-75 students per week. We now have a computer lab for the public; we offer mentoring groups, free community food bank, summer cooling program, teen rap sessions, teen pregnancy forums, alcohol and drug addiction seminars, youth dances, beauty pageants, fashion shows and much more.
